Camden Town is located in north London and is arguably one of the most popular areas in all of London. This renowned town is famous for being at the heart of music, culture and entertainment. In our latest post we will take a stroll down Camden and share our perfect day out in Camden from food, drink to shopping.
Walk along Camden High Street where you'll find well known high street brands, quirky designers and local boutiques. Camden's alternative culture means you're never far from tattoo shops or vintage stores! The heartbeat of Camden town is it's market. We recommend wondering around the market for a sensory overload with bookstores, vintage shops, hairdressers and boutique designers all found here. One must visit store is the 'Cyberdog' a techno lovers dream, filled with crazy neon clothing and toys, playing music at the highest level. Don't be put off by the noise, it is a must see!
Camden is a great place to grab a drink night or day! It has a wealth of local bars, restaurants and pubs. Walk along Camden high Street and you'll come across all manner of places from traditional watering holes to modern bars serving great drinks and food. Our top pick is Proud bar in the Camden Stables. Once a horse hospital and currently a grade II listed building acting as a gallery/bar by day and a club showcasing the newest in live music by night.
There are countless sights to view in Camden from Camden Market to Camden Lock. On a sunny day we recommend walking down Camden Lock, it is a great place to watch the narrow boats float off into the distance. Try walking from the top of Camden High Street (outside the station) down towards the market across the canal, it is the best way to really experience the essence of this vibrant, bustling area.
Camden has a wealth of places to enjoy during your visit, you can find a number of world cuisines at Camden Market and specialist restaurants such as South African inspired Shaka Zulu or the Pan-Asian Gilamesh. Live music can also be found in a number of restaurants in Camden Town from Blues, Jazz and Rock. Our personal favourite is the Blues Kitchen serving great American Soul/BBQ food with delicious cocktails and transforming into a Blues/Rock n Roll bar at night.
Camden is true a gem in North London and is a must visit for all during your time in London. Whether you're sampling the food, wondering the stalls or dancing till the early hours. It is a place that is truly unique and a melting pot of culture, music and fashion. Be sure to bring your camera!
